Bejeweled started out as a tile-matching video game developed by PopCap Games in 2001. PopCap Games developed the initial version as a web-based flash game called Diamond Mine. It was actually Microsoft who suggested Bejewele” as a potential title because “Diamond Mine was almost identical to another game of the era called Diamond Mines. The all future seeing Microsoft was propositioned by Bejeweled’s creators — Jason Kapalka, Brian Fiete and John Vechey to purchase the full rights of the game at a very generous offering. They rejected this offer and ten years later they had an even better offer from the gaming giant electronic arts.
